I was listening to a podcast discussing the collapse of democracy in the Weimar Republic and the analogy was extremely apt.
As the people got more and more unsatisfied on both sides of the political spectrum, more and more power became concentrated in the chancellorship until Hitler was granted ultimate power by people who thought they could control him. They were wrong.
If you are looking back on that event thinking, “If only there were enough left-leaning voters to make sure the other side won that fateful election!” I have some news for you. The other side was the communists. And we don’t have to wonder what would have happened if the communists won because they did win in Russia and China, where they proceeded to kill just as many if not more people than Hitler did.
The main reason we don’t care as much is because Hitler tried to leave his country and kill us. Lenin and Mao stayed in their own countries and killed millions and millions of their own people.
Be in no doubt, Trump is not the problem. Biden is not the problem.
The problem is that more and more Americans are beginning to believe that it is worth bending the rules to keep Trump out of power. And more and more Americans are beginning to believe that it is worth bending the rules to put Trump in power.
No matter who wins that contest, We the People will lose.
